A Post Card From Home

Come love
Come home love

We wait for you
Dishes, Knives and everything
We will not stab you
We will carve you

The evening is still young
And it isn't too late
For you to begin again

This is home love
An important place

 Come sit beside us
The couch awaits
Your warmth
And your jokes

We will not humiliate you
We will stand up
With you and for you
We will not
underestimate you
We will hug you
And forgive you

Come love
Come home
We will love you
With every piece
Curtains, walls and everything

We will not smear
Soot on your face
And run from your darkness
We will protect you
From the cold
And offer you our soul
Our truth
We will tell you

You can make it
No matter how hard
It rains
No matter
How tough the road
You know you can
Always find
The road back home

The map is in your heart
The map is carved
On your palms
This is home love
You will always
Belong here

Yes you can run
When you are afraid
Yes you can fly
When you are ready
Yes you can hide
When you are not
You can.
We will rescue you.
When you're unhinged.

We will contain your rage
We will make you
Your favorite pie
Even when you are
All awkward and guilty
And consumed and lost.

We will let you rest
When you are tired
We will hold your hands
When you get fired
We will surround you
With flowers and food
And blankets and hot soup.

We know
Your imperfections.
We know
Your staggering brilliance.
We know you love.
Even more
Than you know you.
We see you
Everyday and night.
Running, walking, crawling
Doing whatever it takes
To live a life
You are proud of
We too are proud love.

We say nothing
But we cannot hold back.
Not anymore.
Not tonight.
Not ever.

We will resolve
Our differences
We will make up
For the lost time.
We tell each other
Stories
At bed time
And at tea time.
We will be friends again.
So come home love
Come home.
